About this course
This course teaches you how to process data in real time using the Kafka Streams API. You will write four Kafka Streams applications in Java 8, configure them to use Exactly Once Semantics, and scale those applications as data volume grows. The syllabus walks through the High Level DSL, starting with a word-count example, moving to stateful operations with KTables, and covering joins between KStream and GlobalKTable. You will also learn how to test your topology and package your application for deployment.
The approach is hands-on: each major concept is paired with a practice exercise. After the theory of Exactly Once Semantics, you complete a BankBalance exercise. After learning joins, you build a KStream to GlobalKTable example. The final sections cover testing your topology and the next steps for taking your app from development to production.
By the end you can write a working Kafka Streams topology, configure it for exactly-once processing, and package it as a Java application.
