What a nurse actually does
A typical day starts with handovers from the night shift. Tasks include patient assessment, administering medication, wound care, maintaining infection control charts, and documenting clinical observations. Nurses report to a ward sister or nurse manager and often work in teams of four to six on a ward. Emergency units and ICUs have higher patient-to-nurse ratios and faster task cycles. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting patients, and communicating clearly with doctors and families.

Which courses help
Online courses add skill‑specific knowledge — infection control documentation, IELTS for overseas roles, or psychological first aid for mental‑health wards. They cannot replace a GNM or B.Sc Nursing licence, which is legally required to call oneself a nurse in India.
