About this course

This course prepares learners for the Tableau Desktop Qualified Associate and Desktop Specialist certifications. It moves from installing Tableau Public to building visualisations, dashboards and maps. You will learn to format numbers and dates, add labels and tooltips, and use advanced features such as Calculated Fields, Parameters and Hierarchies. By the end, you will have the knowledge to take and pass the Tableau Qualified Associate certification.

The syllabus starts with an introduction and moves into Level 1, where you create your first visualisations and publish them. Level 2 develops the Marks card, introduces scatter and bubble charts, and teaches filtering, the Pages shelf, Labels and Annotations. Level 3 covers Dashboards. Level 4 focuses on Maps and organising and simplifying data. Level 5 explores Field and Chart Types, including advanced types with basic analytics. Level 6 introduces the Gantt Bar Chart, calculations, date analytics and working with data sources. Level 7 covers Field and Chart Types with Fixed Level of Detail calculations and Data Connections Part 1. Level 8 covers Data Connections 2, other aspects of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Online, and creating data flows in Tableau Prep.

At the end you will be able to create line charts, stacked bar charts and geographic analyses using maps. You will build dashboards and storyboards to tell a data story. You will format numbers and dates, add labels, tooltips and animation, and use Calculated Fields, Parameters and Hierarchies. The course is designed for beginners; no prior Tableau experience is assumed.

Honest limits: the course uses Tableau Public, the free version, so you will not work with the full Tableau Desktop features required for the Specialist credential. It is best suited for beginners who want a structured path to the Qualified Associate certification. Learners who already know Tableau basics may find the early sections redundant. If you need Level of Detail expressions, the Advanced Tableau - Level of Detail Expressions / LOD course on Udemy (₹469, 4.7 rating, 6 hours) covers that topic specifically.

Free options include the Tableau Public learning portal, which offers step-by-step tutorials without cost. The Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification Prep course on Udemy (₹449, 4.6 rating, 3 hours) is a shorter alternative if your goal is the Specialist credential rather than the Associate credential.
