What a accountant actually does
Bookkeeping and reconciliations, GST and TDS filings, payroll, closing the month and supporting audit. In smaller firms one person does all of it; in larger ones the work splits into tax, controllership and reporting.
How to become one — the qualification route
Routes range from B.Com to CA, CMA and CS. Practising as a chartered accountant requires ICAI membership; most accounts roles do not.
Regulated professions have statutory entry requirements. Always confirm current rules with the relevant council or university before enrolling anywhere.
