How to become one — the qualification route
The qualification route in India
- Complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Qualify for NEET-UG and secure a seat in an MBBS programme.
- Complete the five-and-a-half-year MBBS course, including a one-year rotating internship.
- Register with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the respective State Medical Council.
- Pursue postgraduate (MD/MS) training if desired, which requires another three years.
